NSWFRA members Nick Backo and Dion Bradley have been appointed to officiate at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Men's Nations Futsal Cup in Suva, Fiji. Nick and Dion flew out on Tuesday 16th September and were greeted with some wonderful local hospitality. On the agenda is a 3 day pre tournament preparation, with 5 match days from 20-24 September, which involves Fiji, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Tuvalu.
Match Day 1 and 2 appointments have been released, which sees both appointed to the opening match on MD1 between New Zealand and Solomon Islands with Nick as R2 and Dion as R3. On MD2 Nick (R1) and Dion (R2) will whistle the Solomon Islands v Fiji match.
NSWFRA Technical Director Chris Codling had this to say on the appointments:
“The NSWFRA are very pleased to see 2 of our members on the international stage once again. A special mention for Dion who is new to the FIFA List of International Futsal Referees in 2025 and is attending his first international tournament in Fiji. We are in a fortunate position where all 4 current FIFA Futsal Referees are members of the NSWFRA, and as such we reap the rewards by having these members give back to the association by sharing their experiences as well as updating our members on current and up to date officiating philosophies and techniques from across the world. We wish Nick and Dion all the best for the tournament.”
