The NSW Futsal Referees Association (NSWFRA) is seeking expressions of interest to referee futsal this season in preparation for its upcoming courses.

NSWFRA is the sole provider of match officials to Football NSW-affiliated futsal competitions. Football NSW has affiliated community futsal competitions in the following areas that the NSWFRA are particularly interested in attracting referees: Katoomba (junior & senior), Windsor (junior & senior), Riverstone (junior & senior), Dural (junior & senior), Glenwood (junior only), North Ryde (junior and senior), Concord (junior only), Five Dock (junior only), Wagga Wagga (junior & senior).

Here’s some fun facts about refereeing futsal:

  • Do you enjoy fast pace and intense matches? Futsal is very similar to football – however it is designed to facilitate a faster, higher scoring and more exciting experience for players, referees and spectators.
  • Do you want to improve your football refereeing? There a range of highly transferable skills between futsal and football. Refereeing futsal can improve your decision making, technical knowledge and slows down football making it easier to referee.
  • Would you like to earn extra money in the offseason? Futsal offers highly competitive match fees with the opportunity to referee in the offseason or all year around.
  • Do you thrive in a supportive refereeing culture? NSWFRA offers a strong, supportive culture with training, development and fun all a key part of the association's culture
  • Are you seeking a pathway to the top with lots of opportunities? Futsal has a similar development pathway to football with clear opportunities for elite, national and international opportunities. This includes access to the best competition in the country – the NSW Futsal Premier League – and an accelerated pathway to national and international competitions – including the possibility of a Women’s Futsal World Cup and FIFA badges.
